Theory

2) The audience are not receptive; the audience have become produce's of news. There's a benefit to institutions as well. Lots of news institutions use user generated content such as blogs with comments enabled and are connected to social networking sites to help keep up with citizen journalism. They can appeal to a younger audience as they are more likely to agree with footage which is much less professional. Also, benefits to audience, allows them to see a different side to the story as the media may decide to filter out certain information but also they cannot have reporters everywhere. The use of citizen journalism allows news stories to reach a wider audience as anyone can take a video or picture and upload it on to the internet and it will go viral almost instantly.

3) The collection, distribution and analysis of news and journalism by the general public which is usually done at the time of an event.

4) When LA police officers beat up Rodney King with clubs and tasered him.

5) Comments section

6) UGC is much more uncut and shaky as it a first-hand account of an event making it much more realistic than professionally shot footage

7) An institution which information is filtered through to ensure it is appropriate before delivering it to an audience.

8) Gatekeepers are now less in control due to citizen journalism as they are no longer able to filter information as it becomes popular before they have a chance to.

9)  There are going to be less professional news reporters meaning the quality of the news industry will drop as most content will be of poor quality.

10) They now contain video clips making them much more interactive then they use to which makes it more likely for the younger generation to get involved with the news. Also the opportunity to comment on news articles has improved.

Hyper-reality and the digital renaissance:

1) Twitter, Instagram, Buzzfeed, Snapchat, Reddit

2) This is a greater amount of reality than whatever else. This is on account of the apps and services. This implies what individuals see, is the truth of what is really happening and there is practically nothing, assuming any' altering really being introduced. This is the distinction that footage and these services have diverse.

3) Citizen journalism makes the audience feel closer to reality compared to for example news coverage for everyday life. The footage which has been recorded can possibly be biased or having the perspective of one individual; though it is content which the viewer can identify with. It needs to feel more like 'news'. News is data that is updating the viewer on occasions and genuine issues, nonetheless they have to express feelings and power, which is the reason news isn't as real as it doesn't do well in that view.
